Philadelphia has signed first-round pick Adam Haseley
The Phillies inked first-round pick Adam Haseley on Wednesday, injecting another promising talent into an organization in rebuild mode with an eye towards the future.

Haseley will report soon to the short-season, single-A Williamsport Crosscutters, who opened their season Monday. The 21-year-old batted .390 with 14 homers and a 1.150 OPS this season for Virginia. According to MLB.com, the deal includes a bonus of $5.1 million, slightly above the slotted value for the No. 8 pick.

"This has been a dream ever since I was young," Haseley said following the draft. "To see it finally come to fruition, it's unreal right now."

Haseley projects as a corner outfielder, though he'll likely begin his career playing center at Williamsport.

The Phillies also announced the signing of six other Top 10 picks. Joining Haseley are righthander Spence Howard (second round), third baseman/shortstop Jake Scheiner (fourth), shortstop Nick Maton (seventh), lefthander Jhordany Mezquita (eighth), third baseman/first baseman Jack Zoellner (ninth), and righthander Connor Brogdon (10th).
