The storyline: The Phillies open the 2014 season on Monday with the start of a three game series in Arlington against the Texas Rangers. 

Game 1 - Cliff Lee (0-0, 0.00 - No. 2 SP in 2013) vs. Tanner Scheppers (0-0, 0.00 - NR SP in 2013)
Game 2 - A.J. Burnett (0-0, 0.00 - No. 15 SP in 2013) vs. Martin Perez (0-0, 0.00 - No. 136 in SP)
Game 3 - Kyle Kendrick (0-0, 0.00 - No. 97 in 2013) vs. Robbie Ross Jr. (0-0, 0.00 - NR SP in 2013)

Phillies notes: 0-0, 1st place in NL East ... The Phillies finished with the worst record in the majors this spring at 9-18 ... offense ranked last in in baseball during the spring with a .222 average and .334 slugging percentage ... the club acquired infielder Jayson Nix from the Rays on Friday for cash considerations ... Cole Hamels said he felt great over the weekend and expects to rejoin the starting rotation in early May ... Cliff Lee played with the Rangers in 2010 and has not faced the club since. 

Rangers notes: 0-0, 1st place in AL West ...  With Yu Darvish on the disabled list the Rangers turn to Tanner Scheppers who will be making his first big league start on Monday ... Jurickson Profar has a torn right shoulder muscle and will miss the majority of the first half of the season ... Prince Fielder and Shin-Soo Choo are new additions to the Rangers lineup ... With Joe Nathan gone, Joakim Soria has assumed the role of closer.
