Ryan Howard and Marlon Byrd each collected RBI singles but the Blue Jays knocked around Roberto Hernandez and Phillippe Aumount en route to a 4-3 win over the Phillies on Wednesday at Bright House Field in Clearwater.

The contest was the Grapefruit League opener for both clubs.

Hernandez surrendered four hits over the first two innings, including a solo homer to Jose Bautista that cleared the stadium in left field.

"I was up with a lot of pitches today and in this park you simply can't do that," Hernandez said. "I'll work on it and things will be fine."

Antonio Bastardo hurled a scoreless inning in the loss.

Rain halted play after seven innings.

Blue Jays right-hander Todd Redmond hurled two scoreless innings to collect the win.

News & Notes:  These two clubs will meet again on Thursday in Dunedin at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium ... Left-hander Cliff Lee is scheduled to start for the Phillies and will be opposed by knuckleballer R.A. Dickey ... Cole Hamels threw his first bullpen session of the spring on Wednesday and said he felt fine. His next bullpen session is scheduled for Saturday.
