Uzzell and Mervis earn D-II Player of the Week honors
The Philadelphia Baseball Review released its Division-II College Player of the Week awards on Monday for the period ending April 14.

Chestnut Hill junior infielder Ameir Uzzell was named the Philadelphia Baseball Review's Hitter of the Week, while West Chester junior right-hander David Mervis has been named the Philadelphia Baseball Review's Pitcher of the Week.

Uzzell finished the week 16-for-26 (.615) with 10 runs scored, 11 RBIs, and seven doubles. He's riding an eight-game hitting streak and is hitting .358 on the season.

Mervis tossed seven solid innings in an 8-1 win over Shippensburg on Saturday. The junior surrendered just four hits and one run (unearned) with four strikeouts to collect his first complete-game victory of the season.

On the season, Mervis boasts a 3-0 record with a 2.25 ERA.

The Philadelphia Baseball Review names winners each Monday throughout the college season.
