Phillies appear to be trading Freddy Galvis to San Diego
The Phillies have been shopping middle infielders throughout the off-season, and now it appears a move is imminent.

Sources confirmed to the Philadelphia Baseball Review on Friday that the Phillies and Padres are working on a deal that would send shortstop Freddy Galvis to the west coast. What the Phillies receive in return is a bit unclear, but any deal will likely include a starting pitcher.

The Padres are one of several clubs that have been interested in Galvis dating back to last season.

Galvis, 28, is a two-time Gold Glove award finalist and hit .248 over the past two seasons with a combined 32 homers and 128 RBIs.

Last season marked his sixth with the Phillies and his 11th with the organization. He's eligible for free agency following the 2018 season.

A potential move opens the door for J.P. Crawford to take over the starting role at shortstop.
