The Phillies play host to the Orioles at Citizens Bank Park for a three-game set starting Tuesday night. Zack Wheeler will start the opener for the Phils, aiming to build on the success of his first two starts in his new uniform. The Orioles counter with veteran Alex Cobb.

Bullpen issue
The Phillies enter today with a league-worst 9.87 bullpen ERA. Nick Pivetta surrendered six runs in the final frame last night, turning what should have been an easy win into a nailbiter.

Roster moves
The Phillies announced several moves on Tuesday afternoon, optioning Pivetta to Lehigh Valley while designating outfielder Nick Williams and pitcher Trevor Kelley for assignment. The club also selected the contracts of pitchers Connor Brogdon and Blake Parker.

Williams had a solid rookie season in 2017 when he hit .288 with 12 homers and 55 RBIs in 83 games. He followed that up with a strong campaign in 2018 when he finished with 17 homers and 50 RBIs, but his batting average dropped nearly 30 points. He was disastrous in 2019 and hit just .151 over 112 plate appearances.

"I think Nick has a lot of talent and I've loved my time around him," manager Joe Girardi said. "I hope we don't lose him, but sometimes an opportunity like this can be the best thing for a young man."
