All-Philly Region DII Preseason Team
The Philadelphia region is home to four D-II programs, including perennial powerhouse West Chester.

Listed below is our Philadelphia Baseball Review All-Philadelphia Region NCAA D-1I Preseason Team. Like last year, we'll award weekly honors on Tuesday's to celebrate the best local efforts at the D-II level.

This roster is meant to highlight players that had solid numbers last year, while also projecting how well they'll do in 2020.

Catcher: Efrain Santiago, JR, Jefferson: Second on the Rams in RBIs with 37 while hitting .269 with four homers. Posted a .417 slugging percentage.

First Base: Andrew Dietz, JR, Chestnut Hill: Posted a .315 (53-for-168)/.352/.458 slash line to contribute 25 runs and 34 RBIs.

Second Base: Justin Horn, JR, West Chester: His .324 last season while collecting 37 RBIs and slugging .438. Named to the All-PSAC Second Team last season.

Shortstop: Arturo Figueroa, JR, Jefferson: Hit .330 last season while driving in 30 runs. Led the Rams with 18 stolen bases and scored 42 runs.

Third Base: Ameir Uzzell, SR, Chestnut Hill: Recorded program single-season records in hits (71) and at-bats (197) while producing a team-high 45 runs and 31 RBI with a .360 (71-for-197)/.408/.457 slash line. Also stole 27 bases.

Outfielder: John Contoudis, JR, Chestnut Hill: Contributed a .326 (57-for-175)/.375/.469 slash line to record 44 runs and 39 RBIs. He also stole 24 bases.

Outfielder: Austin Torres, SR, Jefferson: Crushed a team-leading 10 dingers and posted a .564 slugging percentage. Hit .293 and drove in a team-high 39 runs.

Outfielder: Luke Cantwell, SO, West Chester: Hit five homers and drove in 29 runs. Hit .263 and posted a .462 slugging percentage. Started 47 games last season as a freshman.

Designated Hitter: Chris Anderson, SO, USciences: Led USciences and ranked fourth in the CACC with a .384 batting average his freshman season. His .437 batting average in CACC play ranked second, and he was also top 10 in the league in on-base percentage (.456).

Pitcher: Nick Picariello, JR, West Chester: Made 14 appearances out of the bullpen and maintained a 2.63 ERA. He struck out 30 batters over 24 innings.

Pitcher: David Mervis, SR, West Chester: Posted a 4.37 ERA while finishing 5-1 over 12 appearances (11 starts). Named to the All-PSAC Second Team last season. Held opponents to a .226 batting average against.

Pitcher: John McCrane, JR, USciences: Made 12 appearances, including 11 starts. Led the club with a 4.18 ERA and collected 68 strikeouts over 66 2/3 innings.

Pitcher: Billy Bethel, JR, Chestnut Hill: Led club with seven wins and a 4.44 earned run average (ERA); he allowed 37 earned runs on 79 hits and 15 walks over a team-high 75 innings pitched.
