Philadelphia brings in Jim Gott as bullpen coach.
The Philadelphia Phillies announced Friday that Jim Gott will be their bullpen coach next season.

Gott, 58, spent the last five seasons as the minor league pitching coordinator for the Los Angeles Angels. Prior to that, he spent three years (2010-12) as pitching coach for the Arizona League Angels.

Gott posted a 3.87 ERA in 14 seasons over 554 appearances with the Toronto Blue Jays (1982-84), San Francisco Giants (1985-87), Pittsburgh Pirates (1987-89; 1995) and Los Angeles Dodgers (1990-94).

The Phillies announced last week that they hired John Mallee as hitting coach and Dusty Wathan as third base coach. Wathan was reportedly a finalist for the managerial vacancy filled by Gabe Kapler.

The Phillies are still in need of a pitching coach and those interviews are expected to run through the next week or so. Rick Kranitz has been retained and could land the position, but if not he'll remain with the organization likely as an assistant pitching coach.
