Game 1: Curtain drops on season as Phillies face Reds

The curtain on the regular season falls this afternoon in Cincinnatti as the Phillies open the 2017 campain in the Queen City against the Reds.

No surprises with the Opening Day lineup:

1. Cesar Hernandez 2B
2. Howie Kendrick LF
3. Odubel Herrera CF
4. Maikel Franco 3B
5. Michael Saunders RF
6. Tommy Joseph 1B
7. Cameron Rupp C
8. Freddy Galvis SS
9. Jeremy Hellickson P

On the mound for the Reds is righthander Scott Feldman. The veteran pitched to a 3.97 ERA last year working primarily out of the bullpen for Houston before being traded to Toronto at the trade deadline. Howie Kendrick has owned Feldman over his career, going 12-for-28 with a homer and three stolen bases.

Weather could be an issue today as showers and thunderstorms are forecast for much of the afternoon. If the situation becomes unplayable the contest will be rescheduled for tomorrow which a built-in off day for this very reason.

Vegas has the Reds listed as a slight favorite with the over/under at 8.5.
