Philadelphia Baseball Review - Deon Stafford leads Saint Joseph's
The Saint Joseph's baseball team received votes in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's Division I Preseason Poll, released by the publication last week.

The Hawks finished last year with a 31-23 record and surpassed the 30-plus win mark for the second time in three seasons before falling to Davidson in the Atlantic 10 postseason tournament.

Individually, Deon Stafford, Jr. was honored by CBN with a slot on the third-team Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-America Team. The junior started all 54 games for the Hawks last season, hitting .395 with 18 home runs and 49 runs batted in. He also led the Atlantic 10 in several offensive categories, including slugging percentage and on-base percentage.

Saint Joseph's opens the 2017 season on February 17 when the club opens a three-game set in Malibu against Pepperdine. The home portion of the Hawk's schedule opens on March 17 when UMass-Lowell travels to Smithson Field.
