PHILADELPHIA - Chase Utley's two-run home in the 14th inning on Thursday night lifted the Phillies past the Marlins and brought the club back to within five games of the top spot in the NL East.

Friday marks the opening of a four-game series with the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park.

The bullpen tossed seven scoreless innings in Thursday's marathon contest, so Friday's starter Kyle Kendrick will need to go deep and preserve some bullpen arms for Saturday's doubleheader.

Kendrick faced the Braves last Tuesday in Atlanta, limiting them to two runs on six hits over seven innings.

The Braves will counter Friday with Julio Teheran who has held the Phillies to one run on just seven hits in 17 innings this season

Following the series with the Braves the Phillies head on the road, visiting Washington, Pittsburgh and Milwaukee. By that point, odds are good Ruben Amaro Jr. and Co. will know if they plan to be buyers or sellers following the All-Star break.

"We still have some time to see what happens," Amaro Jr. said ."There's no need to rush anything."

Injury Update:  Cliff Lee is expected to throw a simulated game this weekend and possibly make a rehab starter later this next week.

Phillies Lineup: Revere 8, Rollins 6, Utley 4, Howard 3, Byrd 9, Asche 5, Mayberry 7, Rupp 2, Kendrick 1.
