PBR- Scott Podsednik hit a walk-off homerun to lead the Phillies past the Pirates 5-4. Cliff Lee led the charge, pitching six scoreless innings.

Lee was in mid-season form, scattering three hits and striking out three. The Phillies held the Pirates scoreless until Antonio Bastardo gave up three runs in the eighth before being relieved by Michael Stutes, who gave up one run to tie the game 4-4. In the ninth, Jonathan Paplebon got the win by holding the Pirates scoreless until Podsednik’s walk-off homerun in the bottom of the ninth.

Pete Orr went 2-for-4 on the day, while Jim Thome continued to heat up, scoring a run and doubling in a run. Shane Victorino doubled leading off the bottom of the first to begin a two run inning to get the Philadelphia offense moving. Miguel Abreu stole two bases, swiping second and third off of Joel Hanrahan.

With both Ryan Howard and Chase Utley nursing injuries, the emergence of Pete Orr and reemergence of Jim Thome can be the spark the Phillies need entering the regular season.

Up next, the Phillies will be taking on the Twins tomorrow in Fort Myers. Vance Worley is set to take the rubber against Minnesota southpaw Francisco Liriano.
