PHILADELPHIA - Jerome Williams bounced back from a rough first inning and Freddy Galvis collected three hits to lift the Phillies past the Braves on Sunday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park, 5-4.

The victory secured a series win for the Phillies and ensured a .500 record on the current homestand.

Williams walked a pair of batters in the first inning and then surrendered two hits before Jace Peterson connected for a two-run single to give the Braves a 2-0 lead. The advantage, however, was short lived as the Phillies responded in the bottom of the opening frame with Ryan Howard clubbing a three-run home run to put the Phillies ahead 3-2.

Williams settled down after the first inning, allowing just one run on six hits over the next five en route to collecting the win.

Howard's blast highlighted the Phillies' offense on the afternoon. To go along with Galvis' three hits, Ben Revere contributed a pair, including an RBI-triple in the fifth that scored Galvis to break a 3-3 tie.

The Phillies added an insurance run in the seventh when Odubel Herrera hit a grounder to the right side of the infield and first baseman Freddie Freeman made a poor toss to reliever Ian Thomas who was covering first base, allowing Galvis to score.

Ken Giles tossed a scoreless inning in relief.

Jonathan Papelbon surrendered a solo shot to Alberto Callaspo in the ninth, but secured the save.

On Deck: The Phillies embark on a 10-game road trip that opens Monday night in Saint Louis. Following a four-game set with the Cardinals the club will travel to Miami and Atlanta.
